After the box-office success of Judwa 2, Director David Dhawan is now reportedly working on the script of the 1989 hit comedy flick Chaalbaaz's remake. If the latest buzz is anything to go by then he wants Alia Bhatt to play Sridevi's role in the film. The filmmaker believes that Alia is the modern day Sridevi and will be able to do justice to the role.
Alia revealed in one of the interactions with media that, “When I had gone to him (David Dhawan), asking to be cast in the next instalment of Judwaa, David sir told me ‘I have a better role for you in comparison to Judwaa 3’. The next time I told him about my wish again, he said ‘Not in Judwaa 3, you have to work with me in the Chaalbaaz remake.'
Coincidentally, Sridevi also stated in an interview, "I think Chalbaaz will make for a great remake now. Alia would fit the role perfectly. She is spontaneous and an extremely natural actor. She can look vulnerable, innocent and at the same time, she can be smart and mischievous too."
But an official confirmation about the film and Alia's casting is yet due and awaited.
Meanwhile, Alia is gearing up for her next release Raazi helmed by Meghna Gulzar which also stars Vicky Kaushal. In the film, she essays the role of a Kashmiri girl who marries a Pakistani army officer to leak vital information to India.
