It looks like it is going to be a season of sequels and one after the other sequels are going to flood the M Town that is Marathi film industry. Though the cost of making a Marathi film has soared almost five times what it used to cost even a decade ago, producers are now having an eye on making sequels because they feel that it is a bar a safer bet today. After Zapatlela clicked in a big way, Mahesh Kothare made Zapatlela 2 in 3 D and had even announced that its third part Pachadlela 3 is on the anvil but it is yet to see the light of the day. Neither has the supposed second part and sequel of Pachadlela ready for release. After Gallit Gondhal, Dillit Mujra, its sequel titled Punha Gondhal Punha Mujra which marked the debut of Alok Nath in Marathi films and the sequel to Aga Bay Areycha 2 which was released in 2015, after the first part Aga Baay Areycha earlier and also the sequel to Time Pass which was released not only is Mumbai V/S Pune coming up with its much awaited third sequel Mumbai Pune Mumbai 3, but also the third sequel of Agadbam titled Majha Agadbam 3 of writer-actress producer-director Trupti Bhoir being planned now. At then success party of Boys 2, directed by Vishal Sakharam Devrukhkar, at the Jade Garden at Worli, which according to Eros International has collected a bumper amount of Rs 16 cr plus in just a span of 17 days all over Maharashtra and is still running, the producers as well as the presenter Avdhoot Gupte announced that they are also all set to come up with the third sequel Boys 3 very shortly. However, let me add a note of caution here. For every sequel that is being planned, there are sequels which do not seen the light of the day even after the announcement like Maherchi Saadi 2 and Yedyancha Jatra 2, starring Bharat Jadhav in the lead.
