Over the past many decades ,  that I have known  media-friendly, macho-man, nature-lover Jackie Shroff  (fondly also known as  ‘Apna Bhidu’ Jaggu Dada,)  he has often tried to step out of his ‘comfort zone; and attempt challenging roles and characters . Four times Filmfare Awards winner super-actor Jackie Shroff has acted in movies of  13 different Indian languages including of course Hindi .  Which he has never done before.

“Beti Bachao, Beti Padhaao’ has always been among the prime social causes that I always support”, says Jackie.  Which explains why Jackie agreed to play an impactful cameo in talented writer-director-RJ Karan Singh Rathore’s short film film called "Paath - The Lesson".  which exposes the shocking realistic bitter truth of ‘bride-trafficking;’  prevalent in the interiors of various north-western States of India,  Jackie Shroff  is excellent in a tear-jerking sensitive cameo role performance of a senior Rajasthani widower.  Which has the kahani-mein-twist towards the climax !

Bride trafficking is such a bitter truth of our society and society that a person gets shocked even thinking about it. The figures of bride trafficking are going to put mankind to shame. On such a sensitive and eye-opening issue, writer and director Karan Singh Rathore has created a startling short film called "Paath - The Lesson". A special screening of this special film starring Jackie Shroff was held at Red Bulb Studio in Mumbai where the film's team including Jackie Shroff and Abhilash Thapliyal were present. Screened in several international film festivals and winning multiple awards, the film lesson indeed teaches many lessons.

A short film with an important message and a social issue, Paath raises many questions and sheds light on the issue of bride trafficking. This short film also advocates for the empowerment and education of girls by taking forward the slogan of "Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao". The film is already available on digital platforms.
Writer Karan Singh Rathore has written additional dialogues for films like Mary Kom, Akira, Gangubai Kathiawadi and the most awaited web-series Heeramandi. Multi-talented Karan is the writer, director, producer, composer, lyricist and singer of this short film. Apart from guests Amrita Rao, RJ Anmol ( who is close buddy-friend of  Karan) and noted singer Kavita Seth, the film's actor Abhilash Thapliyal was also present at this special preview-screening. RJ Anmol Sood disclosed that  Karan Singh had tried to raise the production costs thru ‘crowd funding’.  Apparently Jackie Shroff and the other cast artistes did not charge their acting fees as the short film was for a worthy social cause.

Jackie Shroff  mentioned  and appreciated that  multi-talented Karan Singh Rathore hadapproached him with a subject exposing the negative social custom of  young brides-trafficking  yet with a positive eye-opener path-lesson (sabak ) through the Paath short film. I could not refuse to do it. This is a very serious concept which needs to be exposed. Prior to watching this short film made by Karan,  most people may have heard very little about bride trafficking, It's a must-watch short film for everyone . I promise that whenever Karan Singh will come with a  social message script, I will do his film. He is a very hardworking director ."

Director Karan Singh Rathore expressed that that when I thought of making my first film as a director, I planned a woman-centric subject.  When I started doing the research, I came to know about bride trafficking for the first time. We all keep hearing and reading about human trafficking, child trafficking, but bride trafficking is a shocking truth and I felt that this reality social evil should be exposed to the world”.

Apart from Jackie Shroff,  actors Sara Arjun, Abhilash Thapliyal and Rajkumar Kanojia have played important roles in the short film and given excellent realistic performances.

Jackie Shroff seemed delighted as he said  that "I am very grateful to Karan Singh Rathore that he cast me for this film. This film ‘Paath—The Lesson’ is more special because it is a Rajasthani character (Kesar) which I am portraying on screen for the first time. Also this hard-hitting yet sensitive film has been selected for many festivals, and won so many prestigious awards."

The story of the short film Paath is inspired by realistic incidents happening in North India. Abhilash and Sara have played the role of  bride-groom and young bride in the film. It is shown in the film that Jackie Shroff's wife has recently passed away and he picks up Abhilash's wife to be  his wife i.e. Sara who is just 12 years old. After that, you will have to see the Paath film for which way the story twists and turns.
