At a time when almost every Bollywood actor is branching out into other aspects of filmmaking, Ranbir Kapoor has decided to take a backseat and stick with being a performer. In a statement to Mid-Day recently, Ranbir said, "I have realised it's not my cup of tea. This (Jagga Jasoos) is my first and last film as a producer. I am happy being an actor. I am lazy and don't think I am cut out to be a filmmaker. I am glad, though, that I have been credited as producer for Jagga Jasoos."
The news comes as a downer for fans who were hoping for the revival of RK Studios, which was initially established by the star’s grandfather, Raj Kapoor.
Ranbir further discussed the film’s delay and its scope as a family entertainer. In the same interview, he was quoted as saying, "When dada (director Anurag Basu) and I got into a discussion almost three years ago, we realised that we don't have specific films in India for children. So, we wanted to make one that families would enjoy. It's a visual treat with thrilling elements; it's a cute father-son story."
On the work front, Ranbir’s last venture, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, was a moderate hit at the box office. His upcoming Jagga Jasoos will hit the theatres on 14th July, 2017.
What do you think of Ranbir’s decision of not producing films?
