It was Dev Anand eye for talent that made him see the star and actor while he was casting for "Swami Daada". He offered Jackie Shroff, a model , a bit role in the film in which he had to just sit in a stable of horses and had no dialogue to speak . This scene was seen by Dev Anand who gave him a lead role in "Swami Daada " . This role changed his life , but his heart was never in acting - Ali Peter John

But destiny had some other ambitious plans for him . Subhash Ghai remembered him and when star sons like Kumar Gaurav and Sunny Deol were acting too pricey , Ghai offered the role of the hero in "Hero" to Jackie Shroff who was so nervous that he pretended to have met with an accident to see that he was not asked to shoot .

But Ghai refused to let him leave the film . Jackie was finally the real hero of Ghai's film. But Jackie showed no interest even after Hero was a huge hit .

Destiny however continued to chase Jackie and he finally decided to stay back and playe the hero as long as people wanted him ... Other stars have had their good times and bad times . Some of his contemporaries have even left the scene in frustration .

Critics have continued to call Jackie " a wooden actor " or an actor who cannot act to save his life , but Jackie continued to be a winner and has even won two Filmfare awards for best actor .....

Jackie has been clever enough to change with the times and has been playing character roles during the last twenty years , but the fact remains that Jackie is one actor who has never had to stay at home without work.

The only time he had to stay home was during this pandemic and he left Mumbai and spent more than a year on his farm house . The offers to do good roles however kept coming to him and since he knew that he had to be in films because he had forgotten all his activities as Jackie Shroff and wanted to keep busy " till I learn some good acting from Tiger and the other new boys who are coming up to challenge me ".

And starting 2022; Jackie has films which he can do till 2024 . He is not doing big films but says that he will be happy playing roles in small films which can finally bring out the actor in him .

Among the films Jackie has on hand are "Firkey" , "Attithi Bhooto Bhava" "Win", "Main Hoon Khalnayak" "Vivash" and "Agnivrasham". These films may not be the kind of films Jackie used to do once , but according to Jackie , they are the films which can make him discover the actor in him which is not being challenged . He still wants to prove that he is not a fluke , but is a talented child of God .
