Jajaabor, Kanelle And Mohammed Mazhar Opened Day Four At Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2019

After creating a stir amongst the fashion followers during the Gen Next Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2018 show, Kanika Sachdev’s and Neelanjan Ghosh’s label ‘Jajaabor’ returned with an impressive collection called “The Moving Wall” at Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2019.

Inspired by memories of the past that are emblazoned on life’s walls, the designers brought the thoughts in the form of prints and embroidery. They took a nostalgic trip around the world and reinterpreted it in the form of polka dots. More graphic texturing was presented as prints that added to the fashion quotient of the collection.Lakme Fashion Week

The exquisite and intricate embroidery was infused with embossed horses and a few fish motifs, while the detailing spoke for itself. Layering and pleats were a predominant part, while the tassels and juxtaposed badges added to the glam quotient. There was a modern take, when blouses and belts, set a never seen before trend. The back of the belts embroidered in gold with ‘Born to be Wild’ written in Devanagari script, were the perfect head turners.

Classic ensembles were thoughtfully recreated into contemporary forms; while the additional hints of deconstruction were taken from the global traditional garments. Khadi, cotton gauze, mul-mul, silk Chanderi and organza brought ‘The Moving Wall” collection to life.

With a versatile range of colours, the garments burst onto the ramp in hues of bright yellows, blues, oranges, greens, reds and whites.Label Kanelle at Lakme Fashion Week Summer Resort 2019 (1)

The theme appeared in colour-blocked options with quaint horse prints for a cape kurta or the tapestry inspired creation. The asymmetrical, long, deconstructed, racer-back jacket with intense embroidery was a relaxed silhouette, while the jacket dress with myriad forms of embellishments also had a laid-back vibe.

With nostalgic memories as the base of the collection, Kanika Sachdev’s and Neelanjan Ghosh’s ‘Jajaabor’ label ensured that “The Moving Wall” would be the collection that buyers will want to add to their store racks.

KANIKA JAIN’S ‘KANELLE’ LABEL PRESENTED INTRIQUING TEXTILES AND STYLES AT LAKMÉ FASHION WEEK SUMMER/RESORT 2019

For Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2019 Kanika’s collection “Mystic Meadows” was all about the beauty of nature, which is often forgotten. Inspired by the work of artist Azumma Makoto, a Japanese florist and botanical sculptor, who created projects like Iced Flowers and Back to Earth, Kanika wove her design dictates around flora.

This inspiration was gently created into handwork techniques like 3D embroidery, block printing, stitch detailing, and manipulation of fabrics into flora motifs. The ensembles were further enhanced with the correct use of light, fluid, cotton linen, Chanderi Kota, linen, Khadi silk and organza. The silhouettes matched the fragile beauty of the fabrics and moved seamlessly from structured forms to asymmetric detailing.Jajaabor at Lakme Fashion Week Summer Resort 2019 (1)

The Japanese flavour was visible in the printed wrap dress with giant butterfly sleeves. Abstract prints in shades of brown appeared for a yoked frock worn with layered jacket; while a white summer coat with 3D floral accents at the rear gave a variety to the looks. The printed jumpsuit could be layered under a sheer pinafore; but the pale blue, smocked dress teamed with a deconstructed drawstring coat offered contrasting coordinates.

With comfort being of prime importance, ruffles and shirt dresses were teamed with tasselled bags. Mesmerizing jackets along with bows, were a contemporary take on the blouses, setting the mood for the coming season.

The “Mystic Meadows” collection by Kanika Jain for her ‘Kanelle’ label was a fashionable, feminine, journey that will be ideal when the summer heat strikes.Jajaabor at Lakme Fashion Week Summer Resort 2019 (2)

MOHAMMED MAZHAR RECREATED THE MAGIC OF SUMMER WITH HIS COLLECTION FOR LAKMÉ FASHION WEEK SUMMER/RESORT 2019

White has been the most favoured colour for several seasons and for Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2019 Mohammed Mazhar once again paid tribute to white with his “Kadhai Wala” collection. This time, the fabric base was cotton cambric for the required flounce in the creations. Indian gauze, voile and mul-mul as well as TENCEL™ were the other selections for their sheer feminine quality.

These white visions were then embellished with Mohammed’s exclusively developed khaka prints and interesting embroidery. With hints of very discreet blue motifs on the garments, the frills, flounces and voluminous silhouettes came to life on the catwalk.

There were layered full circle blouses with a hint of mesh at the neckline. Peasant-like asymmetrical skirts were splashed with blue; while random circular blotches of blue tones added to the artistic touches on Mohammed’s design canvas. An occasional will-powered, layered angular hemline, midi brought in the semi-formal look. The models sashayed down the runway in bralets made of flowers, while exaggerated sunflowers on the faces were unique and innovative.

Floral embroidery was teamed with dupattas and waist cinchers, while the printed dots and stripes made it a relaxed line. Keeping embellishment to a minimal, the men’s wear was simple and yet made a statement.

Since the collection was inspired by Mohammed Mazhar’s hometown, Saharanpur, he brought on the ramp with him the artisans who helped him bring the inspiration to life - Mr. Mohammed Arshad and Mr. Mohammed Khalid.

For a truly summer offering of fashion in all-white, with artistic paint activity on the garments, Mohammed Mazhar’s latest collection had the style pizzazz as well as loads of quirky attitude.

Red is clearly the favourite colour of the season. Rosario, Lakme Official Makeup expert at Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2019 chose a red liner and red eyeshadow to colour block with a clean face and soft rouge on the lips for the Jajabor, Kanelle and Mohammed Mazhar show.
