After playing a string of interesting characters in the recent past, famed actor Jared Leto is all set to adorn the avatar of Playboy magazine mogul Hugh Hefner who passed away recently at the age of 91. THR confirmed the news that The Oscar-winner will be portraying the role of the pioneer of sexual liberation in his forthcoming film, which will be helmed by Brett Ratner of X-men fame.
"Jared is an old friend. When he heard I got the rights to Hef's story, he told me, 'I want to play him. I want to understand him.' And I really believe Jared can do it. He's one of the great actors of today," Brett said in an official statement.
The film is said to be in its early development and there are no such details of the plot yet. Rumours are that there are chances that the film may cover the period when Hefner borrowed $8,000 to produce the first issue of Playboy in 1953 and launched the magazine with a set of nude photos of Marilyn Monroe that had first appeared in a calendar four years earlier.
