He was at the peak of his career and had taken to producing films under the banner of Tirupati Films. He had made many films which were mostly successful...

It was this success that made him plan a Muslim social on the lines of "Mere Mehboob" made in the sixties.

He was so passionate about making the film that he signed the same director of "Mere Mehboob", H.S Rawail, who had according to the industry gone out of date and was considered old fashioned. But Jeetendra did not his mind and decided to make the film come what may...

He requested his best friend Rishi Kapoor to play one of the heroes in a love story between two men and a beautiful woman which was to be played by Tina Munim.

He had the writers who could write good Urdu and good lyrics and music by the master of music for Muslim socials.

The film was shot on massive sets to keep with the tradition of "Mere Mehboob". The unit shot day and night because Jeetendra firmly believed that he was making the biggest film of his life.

Jeetendra

The film was ready for release and was shown to all the friends and well wishers of Jeetu Sahab and he was so big that no one could tell him that he had made a bad film, they only flattered his ego by telling him that he had made the greatest Muslim social which had some grand music and very good performances even by him, which gave him a boost as he was successful, but was never considered to be a good actor.

The day of the release was just a few days away and Jeetendra was so confident about the success of the film that he asked for police security around all the theatres in India where the film "Deedaar- E - Yaar" was to be released.

He says he had many sleepless nights before the release and planned to take a round of all the theatres on the first day first show of the release.

All he could see were just a few policemen outside the theatres. The audience he was waiting for just didn't come anywhere near and Jeetendra had to go home knowing the most bitter truth about his life and career.

"Deedaar-E -Yaar" was a washout in the box office and Jeetendra decided not to produce any kind of risky films.

He was so bitter that he even called H. S Rawail who had also made "Sangharsh"which was a huge hit, a Daaku.

The film also marked the end of the career of Rawail and was a setback for him, his friend, Rishi and for Tina Munim who was desperately looking for a hit and believed that she had it in this film planned by a man who normally never went wrong when it came to making films.
