Writers, poets, historians, saints and philosophers and even the common man has made every effort to sing the praises of the greatest singer of India, the like which there can hand will never be another.

This is one of the most amazing tributes paid to the Nightingale of India and it comes from the star of the millennium, Amitabh Bachchan who's greatest fan the Eternal singer is......

Amitabh was asked to introduce Lataji at a massive Festival of her music and he came dressed appropriately for the occasion, all invite and almost looking like a sage.

Every face looked eager to hear Amitabh speaking about Lataji... Amitabh started his talk by asking a question in which he asked, 'how can I introduced the great personality, who is an introduction by herself?

It is beyond my mind and my words, but in my own small way I will try” He said Lataji who was not only the voice of the country, but the voice of the world and the genuine star of the millennium.

He said it was very difficult to describe Lataji with who's name all talk about 'Sur, Taal and Sangeet' beings and ends.

He said, she had won unlimited Awards and honour and even doctorates from different universities of the world, but they still were not good enough to describe her greatness he went on to say that even ever he met his friends from Pakistan, the told him that they're country had everything we had, we had but they couldn't have two things, the Taj Mahal and Lata Mangeshkar.

He was in a poetic mood when he said that Lataji had a deep rooted connection with God what he called and in imaginable connection between the aatma of man and the paratma (God)

He used the symbol of the sitar which he said had 12 major strings and below those strings there were smaller strings which he called 'sympathetic chords' which when the sitar were touched with his little finger came out with miraculous tunes which he said were inspired by the power and purity in the voice of singer and in other instruments too.

Amitabh said that he also willing that there was a string (Dor) between the aatma of man and parmaatma and the door is Lata Mangeshkar.

One expected the crowd to go into a wild and ecstatic round of applause, but there was silence in the entire crowd, as if they were all lost in a trance by Amitabh's description of Lataji's voice

Amitabh was invited to present an award to Lataji which was in her brother’s name.

Actually, three names of A.P.J Kalam, Sachin Tendulkar and Amitabh were placed before her and she was asked who she would like to accept the Award from and she said 'if there is the name of Amitabh, why are you showing me other names?

' I had the privilege of inviting Amitabh. He came, as usual before time and then spoke for 45 minutes, only about Lataji while the audience sat in silence throughout when it was Lataji's time to speak, she had tears in her eyes and just said,' mae kya bolu, iss mahaam vhaasha ke badshah ke samne?'

Some 30 years ago, it was Dilip Kumar who used to Sing the praises of his 'choti behen' (that is how he always addressed her) The classical music maestro Ustad Bismillah Khan was passing through a house in Parel when he heard the strains of Lataji's voice and he asked his driver to stop the car and joined his hands and said,' gaadi roko,I baadat ho rahi hae' the car moved only after Lataji's voice stopped.

Will we ever have a Lataji whose description hu. man being, however one word will never succeed in doing justice to?
