KALKI WON'T LET HATERS HAVE THE LAST WORD

A few days ago, Kalki Koechlin shared a picture, posing in the nude, on her Instagram feed. For obvious reasons, the picture went viral. And our very "liberal" public naturally took the course of slut-shaming because there's absolutely no other way that a picture of a woman posing "inappropriately" be appreciated. What was supposed to be an artistic representation of empowerment, was reduced a mere objectification.

Not wasting much time on those infuriating comments, here are just two examples that reflect the thinking of the entire (almost) community.

Considering this isn't the first time something like this is happening, Kalki also wasn't surprised. The actor has been pretty vocal with her thoughts and has always maintained her stand on women's equality. This time too, she decided to give back to the haters in an equal measure. In an interview to Mid-day, Kalki emphasised on the need for women to be comfortable in their own skin. That's exactly her photo meant to convey to the world. It's time nudity isn't looked down upon when it comes to women. What is there to be ashamed of?

Kalki said, "As women, we often are depicted through a man's perspective, but this picture was clicked by a woman photographer. That's why I found it significant to share the photograph," she said in a statement to the news portal.

For her, it's important one leads their own life, unwavering and unaffected by what the world thinks because it will only pull you down. she further reinstated, "I think it's important to celebrate who you are and your body rather than ponder about what the world will think. I have always believed in the idea of wearing your personality on your sleeve. I have never been ashamed of whatever I do."
