Kamyabi kabhi apne aap me dushman ban jati hai, mahaan lekhak kamleshwar ne ye sabit kiya...Ali Peter John

Success can be very bitter and dangerous poison sometimes. It has been proved time and again but people refuse to learn -

Kamleshwar was one of the most outstanding Hindi writers of the 60s, 79s and 80s. He had started a school of writing short stories called "Nayi kahaaniya" and had written novels which have become masterpieces of all time.

He was the editor of several magazines, especially "Sarika" which was about short stories, a publication of the times of india, but he was drawn to Hindi films and the makers of Hindi films wanted him and he wrote some of the most successful and meaningful films for filmmakers like BR Chopra, Savan Kumar and others which made him extremely popular.

But he grew more popular with a TV serial he conducted on DD which was called "Parikarma" which was a beginning for major serials on TV. The of this serial made him lose his balance. He started having illusions and delusions about himself and reach the stage when he almost started believing that he was someone as powerful as God.

He ran down all contemporaries and even his senior writers and called them all kinds of names when he was drunk and that was almost everyday.

He never changed a line in what he wrote and charged producers pay him the kind of money they had not paid to any other writer.

He made waiters in five star hotels in other hotels serve him his liquor in cups and kettles made of pure silver, especially on what were called dry days when liquor was not available anywhere in public.

He called journalist like me to hotels, served us with the best drinks and told us imaginary stories about how much money he had and told them about how rich women and young actresses lined up outside his room and begged of him to give them his baby.

This kind of self-belief even made him run down Gods and Godmen. He reached a stage when he had apartments in different parts of Mumbai and lived a royal life.

But his self love and excessive indulgence in alcohol gradually led him to a stage when he got exposed and the same filmmakers who used to worship him, stopped giving him any work.

He was sat by the newspaper for which he worked and was even threatened to be thrown out of the apartment given to him by his office.

Till a time came when he had to leave Bombay and go back to Delhi, where he did some work on some serials and finally died and was unsung and had hardly any people for his funeral and not even the channel he served best covered his funeral. Kamleshwar was an example for all of us that success is only a temporary season and cannot last forever whatever the game you play in the name of religion and supernatural elements.

His work is still alive but people have forgotten kamleshwar which is the punishment he has received for insulting life.
