on the Flipkart App. why she chose to grab the role of a detective police officer-in-uniform in a popular OTT crime-thriller.

In case you are not aware, the slim, svelte Samvedna (‘Sam’) is otherwise a qualified (MBBS) doctor, who ‘diagnosed’ her own acting potential and decided to ‘face-the-camera’ in a variety of roles.

What sentimental value does this 11th Dadasaheb Phalke Film-Fest ‘Best Actress’ Jury Award have for you ?

Am extremely grateful for this award for my solo performance in short-film ‘Silly. Because any kind of formal recognition for your work makes you want to work harder and get better at your craft.

It pushes you to keep going! Who doesn’t like to win! Also the best part is I got it for a film which was a total daring experiment.

For something, that we just did instinctively out of a dire need to create something during the ‘lockdown’.

Why this quirky title ‘Silly’ ?

Hope can be incredibly destructive when your heart is ‘broken’ The short-film is about a girl going through a heartbreak.

She knows that her relationship is over. But she still keeps obsessing about it and is unable to move on.

It is as if she is stuck in time. She is almost having a nervous breakdown. And she ends up doing and saying things which seem rather ‘silly’. Hence the title!

How did you manage to shoot during the ‘lockdown’ ?

First of all this entire film ‘Silly’ was shot inside my house during the lockdown last year. The ‘multi-tasking’ dynamic director Rishav Agrawal who approached me, stays in my building. But we did not even know each other.

We made this film with a total of just three crew-cast members. It is an intense extremely challenging film and I am shown crying in a lot of scenes, Living in the same house and shooting is extremely difficult.

Sound is a huge challenge. Initially we all got impatient and tempers flew but slowly we found the rhythm.

Also since we barely had any light equipment we could only shoot during daylight. We almost took 20 days to shoot the 33 min film. The entire short film has been made with lots of jugaad !

What is strikingly different in the on-going New Season-2 of ‘Kaun--Who Did It’ ?

The backstories of Detective Adi (Sushant Singh) and Police Inspector Malini ( that’s my character) are explored and also a new kind of chemistry between the two is explored.

In the first season we were always at Adi's house and mostly murder cases were solved. But now new spaces are explored and also different kinds of crimes are solved.

While in the first season, she played the tough cop known for her professionalism and investigation skills, Season 2 portrays her vulnerable personal side. Bigger cases, darker crimes, and dripping with gripping mystery!

Are you willing to take up fully-negative screen-characters ?

Surely, why not? I guess it would be so much fun to portray negative roles. It would be fascinating to explore that nasty bad-woman psyche and maybe steal-the-show as well ! You can say and do things which you can’t in your regular life !
