KISS THE GROUND premiers on Netflix; the landmark documentary demonstrates how regenerative agriculture can reverse the climate crisis
A landmark documentary on climate crisis, KISS THE GROUND, is set to hit screens, premiering on Netflix in India from September 22 onwards.
The film is in English with Hindi subtitles. A DVD release is expected in the coming months, followed by an India-screening tour once COVID restrictions are over.
Directed by critically-acclaimed documentarians Joshua Tickell and Rebecca Harrell Tickell, narrated by Woody Harrelson, distributed by Big Picture Ranch (www.BigPictureRanch.com) and Executive Produced by India-born, RJ Jain, KISS THE GROUND unveils a game-changer to our climate crisis: the Earth’s own soil. Featuring the world’s leading scientists, experts, and activists, it artfully illustrates an accessible and relatively simple solution to humanity’s greatest challenge.

“This science in this film offers an unprecedented opportunity for countries like India to sequester carbon dioxide and stabilize greenhouse gasses while bolstering farming productivity,” says Josh Tickell.
“Never has the world needed healing as we do now. The Kiss the Ground movie offers a way to heal our bodies, bolster our immune systems and heal our planet. This is a critical time for humanity and a critical movie for the world,” says Rebecca Tickell.
KISS THE GROUND represents almost ten years and 300 hours of footage distilled into 87 minutes. It conveys complex concepts to the audience in an easily understandable way, while unveiling a game-changing solution to our climate crisis. Most importantly, KISS THE GROUND is a call to action: There is a solution to save humanity, but we must act quickly.

Executive producer RJ Jain is the India-born and raised, and founder of San Francisco-based e-commerce company.  “Kiss the Ground shows how feasible it is to make these changes at a grassroots level immediately and make a truly substantive impact with low cost and easy to implement solutions. This is why I got involved,” Jain says.
The film team traveled the globe shooting footage on five continents, gathering material from NASA and NOAA, and conducting interviews with international scientists, leading experts, and activists such as our narrator Woody Harrelson, Gisele Bundchen, Tom Brady, Jason Mraz, Ian Somerhalder, Patricia Arquette, and Rosario Dawson.
India - a leader in regenerative agriculture India is the land of ‘Vrikshayurveda,’* and the birthplace of several regenerative farming practices. However, a switch to chemical intensive farming practices and monocultures, has 91badly affected soil health.
Every year, the country spends thousands of crore on chemical fertiliser subsidies. However, through a switch to regenerative farming practices,  this amount can be saved and in the process save the climate too. If substantial investments are  made to support soil regeneration programmes the country can rapidly achieve its NDC (nationally determined contribution) targets and in the process ensure food security.
Of late, there has been an acceptance of soil carbon as a major indicator of soil health. The Indian Government is now promoting eco-friendly farming practices under its various flagship programmes*. There are several progressive farmers in the country who have adopted eco-friendly regenerative practices.
