New Update

Ali Peter John

My friend and editor and publisher of Mayapuri, Shri P.K. Bajaj ji has been a great source of relief to me all the time but he has been more than a beacon of inspiration for me during the virus attack whose support is still on and he is showing no signs of quitting and One of the best things Mr Bajaj has done is to send me videos that remind me of other times, other eras and other great and unforgettable names that have been etched in the pages of history.

It is a continuation of his mind-blowing video that Mr. Bajaj has sent me an old video capturing the first show of Mehboob Khan's magnum ops, 'Mother India', I have written about the show with eminent names like Raj Kumar, and Rajendra Kumar. Personal report had heard from (He made his major debut in the film and played lead roles in Sunil Dutt). I had also heard the great Dilip Kumar speaking about it and if there was anyone who gave me a unique narration about it, it was Mr. Chimkant Gandhi who was Mehboob Khan's right hand and who was one of the three newcomers in the film's cast. , were responsible for bringing up Raj Kumar, Rajendra Kumar and Sunil Dutt. I had seen a similar video about the premiere a few years back, but this time when I watched it over and over again, I had tears of both joy and a strange sadness. Had linked back to my feelings about the film and the people involved in the making of the film.

I know there may be many others who must have seen this video, but I was watching it with my heart's eyes.
The video opens with a view outside Liberty Cinema in South Mumbai, a posh theater where premieres of some of the best films have been held at times, the last being Yash Chopra's last films and Sooraj Barjatya's first few films.
The scene at Liberty opens with a large crowd of men and women discussing ticket rates at the booking counter and rates in the black market. One can hear through voices that tickets were being sold in the black market for Rs 50 and Rs 100 and people still want to see the film which was highly published even months before its release and during the promotions. In which there was a true story of how Nargis was trapped in a fire and how young actor Sunil Dutt saved her by risking his life and this gaudy scene ignited the flames of love and respect between them and it became one of the most contraversal in the country. and had given birth to one of the most successful marriages ever.

Back to the premiere scene in Liberty. Cars of the big stars continued to drive in the opposite lane of Liberty and the excitement among the crowd grew with the arrival of each star.
Nimmi, who rose to fame with her resounding success with 'Barsaat', was the first star to reach the gate, 'Barsaat' being her first film, in which she was first introduced by Raj Kapoor, who introduced her to the sets of Mehboob Khan's 'Andaz'. But saw him only once and cast him without answering many questions and Raj Kapoor's opinion about him stood the test of time. Nimmi was surrounded by her new fans, but she was seen successfully making her way to the entrance of Liberty.

After Nimmi, two good friends and talented actresses, Nadira and Shammi reached Liberty both wearing white saris which went against their image in their films.
She was followed by Shobhana Samarth, who was playing Sita in actress Vijay Bhatt's film 'Ram Rajya'. She was overwhelmed with all the respect she received because of her image as Mother Sita. And they were allowed to go inside in peace.

Then the earth, the sky, the moon, the sun and all that is alive start applauding together when Lata Mangeshkar walks away with her head covered with her pallu and her face glows like a god. And then when Mohammed Rafi humbly approaches the entrance, it seems that heaven and earth have come together to catch a glimpse of God's favorite creations. They have that heaven which is clearly visible on their face even if they belong to this earth.
A brigade of male stars is led by Sohrab Modi, followed by the fearless Nadia. She is in stark contrast to his likable image on screen.
The brigade continues and follows Mehboob Khan, the man behind the magnum-opus with a radiant smile of confidence who is taken by surprise when hundreds of his fans chant his banner's motto "Muddai Lakh Chahey". So what happens, what happens is that Manzoor Khuda Hota Hai” and a smile of victory and determination appears on Mehboob’s face and he walks inwards.
Mehboob Khan has been followed by others such as veteran actors Sheikh Mukhtar, Yakub, Kanhaiyalal, Rajendra Kumar and then Raj Kumar. A kind of prophecy about the heights he would reach, and there his fans could be heard shouting 'hi'.
However, time stops and the heart stops beating when the flamboyant Dilip Kumar appears wearing a sharp skin suit and the women in the crowd go crazy on seeing him.
