KYA SANJAY LEELA BHANSALI BAIJU BAWRA KA JAADOO PHIR JAGAA SAKEGA ?

Some 65 years old, Vijay Bhatt, an Uncle of Mahesh Bhatt who had directed Ram Rajya, the only film seen by Mahatma Gandhi had directed Baiju Bawra which was made with Bharat Bhushan and Meena Kumari and had music by Naushad.

The film went on to be an all time praise and Bharat Bhushan and Meena Kumari grew into legends which they are still remembered as.

Many other filmmakers tried to make their own versions of the film, but none of then succeeded.

It is in this light that it is interesting to know that Sanjay Leela Bhansali who has recently completed 25 years as a Director is now actually shooting his version of Baiju Bawra with the unique casting of Ranvir Singh and Alia Bhatt and the film is being shot on massive sets at Film City.

All eyes are now on Bhansali to see whether he sticks to the original story or makes his own version of the film which has now gained cult status.

SLB is also making a web series called Heeramandi for the Netflix. But sources close to him say that he may cut down on the number of episodes for Heeramandi to concentrate on Baiju Bawra.

It must be known that SLB has also completed Gangubai Kathiawadi, a film about life in the Red light areas of Bombay with Alia playing a Madam who speaks the most coarse language and fights the most bitter fights.

And as SLB is shooting Baiju Bawra, Karan Johar is shooting for Rocky and Rani ki prem kahani ( Why are filmmakers running so short of good titles?) with the same pair of Ranvir and Alia.

And it is interesting to know that Deepika who was first approached by SLB to play the lead role in Baiju Bawra has just signed her second film in hollywood details of which are still to be released.

These developments are a clear indication of how filmmaking is going to take a big turn as soon as the pandemic is over.
