She also appreciated the make-up artistes who helped her achieve the look to the point of perfection.

"The awesome response to our trailer for Bell Bottom and the appreciation for the role of Mrs Indira Gandhi has been overwhelming and my heart is filled with gratitude.

I'm so thankful for the faith that Akshay Kumar, director Ranjit Tewari, Vashu Bhagnani and Jackky Bhagnani, Deepshikha Deshmukh had in me," she wrote.

The exuberant Lara added in her post: "And I'd also like to thank and give full credit to Vikram Gaikwad and his team for the incredible prosthetics and make up!

Can't wait for you'll to watch the film in the theatres!! See you there on the 19th of August."

Recalling the process, Lara says, “Getting her hairstyle, which was such an iconic part of her, was quite an effort.”

“The most important thing is to get the body language and voice right. A lot of homework went into that as well.

Ranjit our director, would keep sending me videos of interviews of Mrs Gandhi so that we could focus on little things, like her hand movements, eyes, reactions to situations. These are the things that make working as an actor worthwhile.”

"All it took was a call and they said that Lara this film is being made and we are casting for Indira Gandhi's role.

It was before I heard the script... But yes, of course, there is a great responsibility when you're portraying somebody who is an iconic figure like her."

The most "challenging" aspect about playing Indira Gandhi on screen was to "get the body language of the character right."

In yet another media-interview, Lara revealed that she had a special connection with Madame Indira Gandhi and hence felt it was more personal.

Lara also disclosed that her father, Wing Commander L.K Dutta, was Indira Gandhi’s personal pilot.

“He had flown her many times and knew her personally. I grew up as a kid hearing stories about her.

So, in a way, I felt an indirect personal connection with her,” she was quoted saying. Other than hero Akshay Kumar and Lara Dutta, thriller Bell Bottom also features hottie Vaani Kapoor and vivacious Huma Qureshi. It was supposedly the first feature film to be shot during the pandemic, last year.
