New Update
As many of my friends and readers know , I am a dreamer who have dreamt my way through life and have no regrets .
And as I know myself , I have seen some of the most mind blowing and baffling dreams and I don't think my long affair with my dreams is going to end soon or ever - Ali Peter John
He always welcomes me by saying " aao romantic Journalist " Ali Peter John
I don't mind living with my dreams for the rest of my life and may be even after this life , if there is another life .
Last night , I had one of my few pleasant dreams when I saw the great filmmaker and my dear friend Yash Chopra making his grand entry into my world of dreams .
Yashji was sitting in his old OFFICE at Vikas Park in Juhu , the place from where he planned some of his big films for more than 20 years .
He was welcoming me in the same way as he did when I used to visit him almost every week and his first line was " aao romantic Journalist " .
He said he had come down especially to know what was happening at his Yash Raj Films , the industry and especially to know more about his wife Pam ( Pamela) and his sons Aditya and Uday .
"He gets nostalgic when he remembered his old friends who were the pillars of his small empire Yash Raj Films" Ali Peter John
He was nostalgic when he remembered his old friends , Pran Mehra Kaygee and Ravi the editor , cinematographer and music director who were the pillars on which he built his small empire Yash Raj Films with its OFFICE in one of the large rooms at Rajkamal Studio which was gifted to him by Dr V Shantaram .
He asked me where his trusted assistants like Ramesh Talwar , Deepak Sareen and Rajesh Sethi were and I told him that they were doing well in their own ways .
I was touched when he inquired about his personal assistants like Sally Fernades and the peons who he treated like members of his family .
He was restless and wanted to know as much as he could as if he was running out of time .
"He wanted to make films rather than becoming an I C S OFFICER which his father wanted him to be"
He spent quite some time talking about his association with Sahir Ludhianvi who was the reason why he wanted to make films rather than becoming an I C S OFFICER which his father wanted him to be .
I don't know why he remembered the time when he was an assistant director of I S Johar which he said was the worst experience of his life and which was also a blessing which made him take a vow that he would be a director on his own .
He remembered his Bhai Sahab ( B R Chopra ) and talked about how he was whatever he was because of his Bhai Sahab .
He looked sad when he described the time when he decided to part ways with his Bhai Sahab and how he had decided to make peace with his Bhai Sahab when he was critically sick and could not even recognize him .
Yash said that he visited his sick brother every evening , but it was of no good as his Bhai Sahab had left the world before that peace pact between two brothers could be sealed .
"He gets upset when critics and all the experts brand him as a maker of romantic films"
He was a little upset when he said , " why did critics and all the experts brand me as a maker of romantic films .
Didn't I make other kinds of films like "Dharam Putra", "Dhool Ka Phool", Waqt Aadmi Aur Insaan, Ittefaq Deewar, ,Kala Pathar and Trishul .
In fact , I have made better and more challenging films when I have made films which were based on the realities of life . I will come back again and again till I find recognition as a complete filmmaker "
He was growing anxious now and started talking about his family . He wanted to know more about his wife who he said he had neglected for a long time and when he had decided to spend the rest of his life with her , a single mosquito had ruined all his dreams .
"He was happy with what Aaditya was doing to continue his legacy"
He said he was happy with what Aaditya was doing to continue his legacy , but he was upset with the way in which Aaditya was dragged into a controversy some months ago , but asked me to tell Aaditya that his blessings were always with him .
But during the time Yashji was with me in my dream , he was most worried about his younger son Uday and hoped that Uday would rediscover himself in some way .
He was now getting very restless and kept saying that he had to go for another meeting and before he could leave , he said , " Ali , tell Aaditya to take away my statue from the gate of Y R F Studio because he was still alive with him in all the body of work he has done for more than 30 years.
And before he could finally leave my dream , he said , " behn ke takke, tu romance ka boot hai, tu kyu nahi ye aaj ke ladke ladkiyon ki samjaata ki mohabbhat bahut zaroori hai zindagi ke liye aur filmo ke liye bhi"
I hate most of the dreams I see during these lockdown times, but this was one dream I wanted to go on and on.
But dreams too have their own lives, moods and time which was a truth I realised only after seeing this unexpected , unbelievable and now immortal dream with the king of dreams
