Some sixty eight years ago , Lata was a very close friend of Ataresh Lahiri and Bansunri Lahiri a couple who lived for music . The Lahiri's had a son who they named Alokesh and he showed signs of being a musical genius even while he was a baby lying in his cradle or on the floor .

He was only three years old when he started playing the tabla and it was at this time that Lata Mangeshkar predicted that the child Alokesh would grow up to be a great musician and even a composer for Hindi films ...

By the time Alokesh was ten , he could play almost every instrument and when he was nineteen , he had the confidence to ask the queen of melody , Lataji to sing under his baton for his first ever film which was in Bengali and called ,"Daadu' .

All the songs of the film grew popular and so did Alokesh . He scored the music for some other Bengali films and his father realised that his son had the potential to make it as a composer in Hindi films .

And what Lata Mangeshkar and the father of Alokesh had predicted kept coming true one after the other and Alokesh became Bapi and from Bapi , he became Bappi and Disco King , Gold King ,Dance King and Disco Emperor .

The best thing was that even as critics called him the voice of noise and he discovered new trends of music and new voices to go with them , he never dared to take the liberty of making Lataji's voice sound cheap or even remotely vulgar at any time . He called Lataji ' Devi' and treated her like a goddess till the very end ...

God or destiny must have had some strange plan for both Lata and Bappi . Lata was ninety two and Bappi was sixty nine , but they both went away into some other world within a matter of twelve days
