India's official film 'Laapataa Ladies' directed by Kiran Rao is out of the Oscar race. Meanwhile, producers Aamir Khan Productions, Jio Studios and Kindling Productions have shared their reactions to Laapataa Ladies being out of the Oscar 2025 race.

The team issued a response

Let us tell you that producer Aamir Khan Productions, while reacting to the exclusion of Laapataa Ladies from the Oscar 2025 race, said, "Laapataa Ladies did not make it to the Academy Award shortlist this year, and we are of course disappointed, but at the same time we are extremely grateful for the incredible support and trust we have received during this journey. We at Aamir Khan Productions, Jio Studios and Kindling Productions express our gratitude to the Academy members and the FFI jury for considering our film".

The production team expressed their gratitude

Continuing their statement, the team further wrote, "It is an honor to be included in this prestigious process along with some of the best films from around the world. We sincerely thank all the audiences around the world who have expressed their love and support for our film. We congratulate the teams of all the top 15 shortlisted films and wish them all the best in the next stages of the awards".

Along with this, the team said in its statement, "This is not the end for us but a step forward. We are committed to bringing even more powerful stories to life and sharing them with the world. Thank you for being a part of this journey".

Chhaya Kadam reacted

On the other hand, Chaaya, who played the role of Manju Mai in Kiran Rao's film Lapata Ladies, said, "Look, what to do! I am really upset. We had imagined such big things for our film". She further said, "I am very hopeful that it will be shortlisted for Oscars". I was sure and more than me, the people of the film industry were sure, the people who loved the film were sure, and they all were sure that you (the film) are going to be a hit".

Meanwhile, Sparsh, who plays the male lead Deepak Kumar, says he is not disappointed at all. "There is no sadness inside me. My first film reaching the Oscars is a big deal for me." 

Nominations will be announced on January 17

Nominations for the Oscars 2025 will be announced on January 17. Nomination voting will begin on January 8 and end on January 12. The 97th Oscars will be held on Sunday, March 2, 2025 at the Dolby Theatre in Ovation Hollywood.
