Aamir Khan Once Rejected for Ravi Kishan's Role in Missing Ladies

Kiran Rao's film Missing Ladies has been selected as India's official entry for Oscars 2025. The film is hoping for a nomination in the Best Foreign Film category. Missing Ladies stars Pratibha Ranta, Nitanshi Goyal, Sparsh Srivastava, Chhaya Kadam and Ravi Kishan in lead roles. However, Aamir Khan, who supported the film, also wanted a role in the film. He also auditioned for the role of Ravi Kishan, but was rejected. Let's know the reason behind this.

Aamir Khan said this about his audition

Earlier this year, Aamir Khan had said, “The story was really good, and it had a very good character. I thought I will offer this story to Kiran, maybe she will like it. I wanted to do a role in the film and Kiran said, 'You are a very big star, my film is small, you will make it unbalanced'. I said, 'At least let me give a screen test, let's see if I am suitable for the role or not.' So, I gave a screen test”.

Kiran Rao rejected Aamir Khan's test for this reason

Aamir Khan further said, "After giving the screen test, Kiran and I loved it, but we both feared that if I came in as a star, people would have expectations. We felt I should not be in the film under any circumstances." The actor then suggested to Kiran Rao that he was ready to change his look to look like Robert Downey Jr. in Tropic Thunder, but was put off by the director's response, "I will change my look," to which Kiran replied, "So what is the use".

Presented by Jio Studios, 'Missing Ladies' is directed by Kiran Rao and produced by Aamir Khan and Jyoti Deshpande. The film is produced under the banner of Aamir Khan Productions and Kindling Productions, with the script based on the award-winning story by Biplab Goswami. The film revolves around the misadventures of two young brides who get lost in the same train. The screenplay and dialogues of the film are written by Sneha Desai, while the rest of the dialogues are written by Divyanidhi Sharma. The film was released in theaters on 1 March 2024. The film stars actors like Nitanshi Goyal Pratibha Ranta, Sparsh Srivastava, Chhaya Kadam and Ravi Kishan. Before its release, the film was screened at the popular Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in 2023. It received a standing ovation from the audience present at the festival. The film was released in India in March this year.
