Aamir Khan produced the film Laapataa Ladies because of 'Darr'

The film 'Missing Ladies' directed by Kiran Rao and co-produced by Aamir Khan will represent India at the prestigious Oscar Awards this year. The Film Federation of India has sent the film as India's official entry to the Oscars. In August, Aamir Khan and his ex-wife, filmmaker Kiran Rao, had a meaningful conversation with the Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud after a special screening of the film at the Supreme Court. Not only this, during the special screening, Aamir Khan told that his decision to produce Missing Ladies came from both "fear and desire".

Aamir Khan said this about “Missing Ladies”

Let us tell you that while talking about his career, Aamir Khan said that this came when he realized that this was the last stage of his career. He had said, "During Covid, at the age of 56, I realized that this was the last stage of my career. I probably had 15 more years of active work left, and I wanted to give something back. The industry, society and the country have given me a lot. I thought I could do one film a year, but as a producer I can support many stories that I feel strongly about".

'I want to promote such talent'- Aamir Khan

Continuing his talk, Aamir Khan said that through filmmaking, he can provide a platform for new writers, directors and everyone involved in this process. He said, "Missing Ladies is the first step in that direction. I want to promote such talent and hope to make four to five films a year so that we can see more such films".

Kiran Rao expressed gratitude 

Meanwhile, on the film “Missing Ladies” being included in the Oscars, Kiran Rao said, “I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the selection committee and all those who believed in this film. It is indeed a great honour to be selected among such wonderful Indian films this year which are equally deserving contenders for this honour”.

The film was released on 1 March 2024

Presented by Jio Studios, 'Missing Ladies' is directed by Kiran Rao and produced by Aamir Khan and Jyoti Deshpande. The film is produced under the banner of Aamir Khan Productions and Kindling Productions, based on the award-winning story by Biplab Goswami. The screenplay and dialogues of the film are written by Sneha Desai, while the rest of the dialogues are written by Divyanidhi Sharma. The film was released in theaters on 1 March 2024. The film stars actors like Nitanshi Goyal, Pratibha Ranta, Sparsh Srivastava, Chhaya Kadam and Ravi Kishan.
