Actor Aamir Khan has spoken about why he decided to quit films. In an interview with Hollywood Reporter India, Aamir revealed that he had made this decision even before the release of Laal Singh Chaddha. He also revealed that his children - son Junaid Khan and daughter Ira Khan - persuaded him not to quit films completely.
Aamir Khan reveals when he wanted to quit films
Aamir said, "At the end of COVID-19, I felt I was sitting alone and thinking that I have spent a large part of my adult life, from the age of 18 when I became an assistant, till now, all my focus has been on cinema and films. As a result, I realised that maybe I have not been present enough for my relationships -- my children, my siblings, my family, whether it was Kiran when I was married to her, whether it was Reena when I was married to her. I felt I was not present for these people. It was in the middle during Laal Singh." Aamir talked about his emotional moment
He further added, "I went through that emotional moment when I felt I had given my whole life to cinema and I was not there for my family. So at that point, I went, I felt very guilty, I didn't feel good about what I had done, so that was my emotional reaction, and I have done so many films, 35 years I have done films, now I can focus on my family and personal relationships... So I called my family and said, 'Listen I am not going to do films anymore, I want to spend time with you guys'. So that was my reaction. It wasn't because of any disappointment with cinema or anything like that. It was an emotional feeling, and I am an extreme person."
Aamir opens up about Junaid's advice
Aamir also told how Junaid convinced him not to quit films. He said that Junaid explained to him that he was going from one extreme to another. Junaid said that "There is also a place somewhere in between where you can live. You can do films, and you can stay with us. Aamir was last seen in Laal Singh Chaddha directed by Advait Chandan. The film also stars Kareena Kapoor, Mona Singh and Naga Chaitanya. It is an official remake of the Hollywood film Forrest Gump, which starred Tom Hanks.
