Many stories of meetings between casting directors and actors in Bollywood keep coming out from time to time. Sometimes these meetings change careers, and sometimes they force the actors to think. Recently, actress Isha Talwar shared her experience of auditioning with a famous director. Now, TV and film actor Abhinav Shukla has also recalled his meeting with a famous casting director and the events that followed.
Abhinav Shukla Recalls Hurtful Comment From Casting Director
Abhinav Shukla, who has made a strong mark in both TV shows (Abhinav Shukla TV shows) and films, mentioned his experience on Instagram story (Abhinav Shukla Instagram). He said that when his film 'Roar' was about to release, he got a chance to meet Yash Raj Films' casting director Shanoo Sharma. According to Abhinav, Shanoo Sharma told him, "You are very good looking, but you lack spark. You can definitely audition, but..." This comment was hurtful for Abhinav, but he decided to move forward, considering it as a part of his journey.
Meeting with Sanjay Leela Bhansali
A few years later, Abhinav met famous filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali for his upcoming film 'Inshaallah'. This was the same film in which Salman Khan and Alia Bhatt were to be seen in the lead roles. However, later this film was stopped. Recalling his conversation with Bhansali, Abhinav wrote, "Bhansali sir praised me a lot and said Why have you done so little work. I have seen your audition, and you have a lot of talent." Abhinav believes that sometimes initial criticism itself leads you to such people who appreciate your talent.
Opportunity to work with Salman Khan
Abhinav also revealed that he was supposed to share the screen with Salman Khan for 'Inshallah'. This could have been a big opportunity in his career, but this dream remained unfulfilled as the film got shelved.
Learning from criticism
Abhinav Shukla also wrote in his post that insults or criticism can be an opportunity that introduces you to people who truly respect your talent. His experience is an example of how, instead of getting broken by negative comments in the industry, one should look at them as an opportunity.
