Actress Ritabhari Chakraborty accused the industry of sexual harassment

The Hema Commission report which exposed the issue of the casting couch in the Malayalam film industry has created a ruckus in the entertainment industry. Now Bengali actress Ritabhari Chakraborty shared a post on social media on Monday. In this post, she has demanded a thorough investigation into the cases of sexual harassment in the Bengali film industry. Along with this, she also tagged West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Ritabhari Chakraborty made these allegations about the Bengali film industry

Let us tell you that Bengali actress Ritabhari Chakraborty shared a post on social media on Monday and wrote, "The Hema Commission report exposing sexual harassment in the Malayalam film industry has made me think why the Bengali film industry is not taking similar steps? So many reports are similar to my experiences or those of an actress I know". Along with this, the actress further said, "Do we not have any responsibility towards those young actresses who come to this business with dreams and are made to believe that it is nothing but a sweet brothel".

The actress appealed to Mamata Banerjee for help

While tagging the CM, the actress said, “@mamataofficial We also want similar investigation, report and reform. Heroes/producers/directors with such dirty minds and behavior continue to work without facing any consequences of their actions and are even seen holding candles for the tax victim, as if they consider women better than their bodies. Let's expose these monsters. I am calling upon my fellow actresses to stand up against these monsters.” “I know you are afraid of losing your role or never getting cast because most of these men are influential. But how long will we remain silent?” 

The actress appealed for the immediate investigation of the industry

Sharing this post, the actress made an emotional appeal to NeCM, saying, “@mamataofficial Didi. We need similar investigations in our industry immediately. No, we don't want another case of rape or assault before we are taken seriously. Being in show business does not mean that any man considers us an object or a target to quench his thirst for power or sex”. Let us tell you that the actress is known for her performance in Bengali films 'Chotushkon' (2014), 'Once Upon a Time in Kolkata' (2014), 'Bawal' (2015) and 'Fatafati' (2022).
