World famous tabla player and Padma Vibhushan Ustad Zakir Hussain has passed away. His family confirmed this on Monday morning. According to the family, Hussain was suffering from idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. Ustad Zakir Hussain was renowned as one of the greatest tabla players in the world and his demise sent a wave of grief across the country. Career of Zakir Hussain
Zakir Hussain was the eldest son of the great musician Ustad Allah Rakha. Born on 9 March 1951, Zakir followed in his father's footsteps and entered the world of music. At the age of just 12, he released his first music album Living in the Material World. He got the most recognition in the world of music as a tabla player. Zakir Hussain won not only national but also international awards on the basis of his ability. He has also been honored with Padma Vibhushan, three Grammy Awards, Padma Shri Awards. Talking about Zakir Hussain's family, he married film producer Antonia Minnecola in the year 1978. They have two children - Isabella Qureshi and Anisha Qureshi. Antonia Minnecola is Italian-American.
