Amitabh revealed about his parents' inter-caste marriage

Amitabh Bachchan on Inter-Caste Marriage: 81-year-old Amitabh Bachchan is currently seen in KBC i.e. Kaun Banega Crorepati 16. Let us tell you that Amitabh Bachchan, while discussing inter-caste marriage with KBC contestant Kirti, said, "I find it a bit strange to call it an inter-caste marriage. My father was from Uttar Pradesh and my mother was from a Sikh family. I believe I am half Sardar. When I was born, one of my aunts used to say 'Kitna sona puttar hai, sadda Amitabh Singh (What a handsome son, our Amitabh Singh)".

Amitabh also confessed in the same episode that he had trouble with Maths in school and in one exam he had scored only 42 marks. When Kirti asked him if he would gift jewellery to his wife and veteran actress Jaya Bachchan, he replied, "You have asked me a very personal question, but yes, I will gift her jewellery. I hope no one from the Income Tax Department is watching this."

Big B's father was a famous poet and writer

Let us tell you that Amitabh Bachchan's father Harivansh Rai Bachchan was a famous poet and writer. He was part of the Nai Kavita movement of Hindi literature in the early 20th century. Harivansh, famous for his classic poem Madhushala, was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 1976. Born in Babupatti in the United Province of Agra and Oudh in British India, his family name was Srivastava. He used "Bachchan" as his surname. Amitabh's mother Teji Bachchan was a social worker, born in a Sikh family in Lyallpur in the Punjab province of British India. She met Harivansh at a college event in Lahore and the two got married in Allahabad in 1941. She played Lady Macbeth in her husband's produced adaptation of William Shakespeare's iconic play Macbeth.
