Anupam Kher Opens Up on Not Having a Child, Says Kiran Couldn't Conceive

Anupam Kher talks about not having his own kids: Veteran actor Anupam Kher and Kirron Kher have been married for more than three decades. Anupam Kher got married in 1985, and Kirron Kher's son Sikandar from her first marriage also became a part of Anupam's life. In a recent interview, Anupam Kher explained why he and Kirron did not have their own children.

In fact, reflecting on his earlier statement about missing out on seeing a child grow up before his eyes during a recent interaction, Anupam said he didn't realise it until he was 60. "I work a lot with kids. My foundation does a lot of work. I love kids. I used to do a show called "Say Na Something To Anupam Uncle", which was a kids' show. So when someone asked me, 'Do you feel that way?' I said yes—and it's true."

Continuing his talk, Anupam Kher further explained why he never had children. The veteran actor said, "It didn't happen initially. Kiran couldn't conceive, and when she did, the pregnancy wasn't developing properly. I was too busy trying to make it big. I was too busy, and Sikandar is still enough for me. He was four years old when he came into my life, when I married Kiran, so I never felt the lack of anything. Just because I feel something now, doesn't mean I felt it then. There is no definite answer to this."

Anupam Kher and Kiran Kher were good friends for over a decade before they tied the knot in 1985. At the time, Kiran was married to Gautam Berry and was going through a tough time, and Anupam had just broken up. The two fell in love and got married. Kiran's son from her first marriage, Sikandar, became a part of Anupam's life and even adopted his surname.
