59th Maharashtra State Film Awards: On August 21, the Maharashtra State Government presented the 58th and 59th Maharashtra State Film Awards together for the first time in history. In this program, Asha Parekh was honored with the late Raj Kapoor Lifetime Achievement Award.

At the event, the melodious voice of veteran singer Anuradha Paudwal was also honored with the Lata Mangeshkar Award for 2024. Actress Rohini Hattangadi and singer Sudesh Bhosle were also honored for their contributions to cinema and music respectively. Veteran actor Shivaji Satam, who played ACP Pradyuman in the famous television show CID, was awarded the Chitrapati V Shantaram Lifetime Achievement Award. Apart from this, filmmaker N. Chandra was presented with the late Raj Kapoor Special Contribution Award for his significant contribution to Indian cinema.

The event was held at the Dome SVP Stadium in Worli. It was attended by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar, Cultural Affairs Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar, Education Minister Deepak Kesarkar and Skill, Employment, Entrepreneurship and Innovation Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha. Other notable leaders and visionaries present at the event included Rajya Sabha members Milind Deora and Imran Pratapgarhi, MPs Arvind Sawant and Anil Desai. Several Legislative Council members and MLAs were also present at the event.
