He passed away in November 2025 at the age of 89. Reacting to this emotional tribute, his wife and actress Hema Malini said that she was very happy to see her husband honoured on such a prestigious international platform. She emotionally said that Dharmendra was an artist who received immense love not only in India but across the world, and being honoured in this manner is a testament to his global popularity.

In fact, about Dharmendra receiving the BAFTA award, Hema Malini said in an interview, "He was a man whose presence transcended borders. He had fans in every part of the world. Oh my God, the way he was mobbed abroad. We didn't travel together much, except during filming when we got a chance to spend time together. We signed a lot of films together so we could spend time together."

Hema Malini misses Dharmendra

Hema Malini further shared that she misses him every minute since his passing. She said, "I miss him every minute. I keep asking myself, 'Is he really gone? When will I see him again?' I love 'Chupke Chupke,' who doesn't? And 'Sholay,' because we had a great time shooting it. I haven't seen all his films. As soon as I get some time, I'll watch them one by one."
