Devendra Fadnavis, Mumbai Police, Bollywood: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis attended the Indian Police Foundation's (IPF) Annual Day 2025 program in Mumbai on Saturday. On this occasion, he not only praised the police force but also expressed his displeasure with Bollywood films. Fadnavis believes that Hindi films have never accurately portrayed the true bravery and work ethic of the Mumbai Police.

CM Devendra Fadnavis said that for decades, Hindi films have done injustice to the Mumbai Police. Films always show the police arriving hours after a crime, while the reality is quite the opposite. He said, "Our police always arrive at the scene on time, but cinema has never accurately portrayed the truth. I am proud that the Mumbai Police has always maintained its standards and earned recognition as the most trustworthy police force in the country."

Technology is changing policing

At the event, the Chief Minister also highlighted how technology has taken policing to a new level. He stated that police officers are now constantly striving to understand and adopt new technologies. To this end, the Maharashtra Police has established a cybersecurity lab. He proudly noted that four countries have contacted the Maharashtra Police, and one of them has even requested the establishment of a cybersecurity lab similar to Maharashtra's.

Strict action against drugs and addiction

In his address, CM Fadnavis also mentioned the challenges posed by drugs and narcotics. He said that drugs are becoming a major problem for the younger generation and are corrupting society. He gave a clear message that any member of the police force found involved in drug activities will be immediately dismissed. Fadnavis said, "Such people have no place in the police force."

The Chief Minister said he was proud that the Mumbai Police had always maintained its standards and proven trustworthy in every situation. He added that the Mumbai Police had played a vital role not only in crime control but also in the country's security. The theme of the event was "  Reimagining Police for India's Economic Development ." The Chief Minister said that if the police force was strengthened technically and morally, it could play a major role in the country's economic and social development.
