Dhurandhar 2: Ranveer Singh's film " Dhurandhar: The Revenge " has been embroiled in controversy over alleged safety violations during its shooting in Mumbai. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has proposed blacklisting director Aditya Dhar's production banner, B62 Studios, for violations, including lighting torches without permission in a heritage area. A fine of ₹1 lakh and forfeiture of security deposits has also been recommended. The All India Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has strongly condemned these violations and supported the BMC's move, demanding strict protocols for the safety of the cast and crew.

The association said, "The life, safety, and dignity of film industry workers, technicians, and laborers cannot be compromised under any circumstances." "Due to such gross negligence, many workers lose their lives every year, while many others are seriously injured due to fire, electric shock, and collapses or unsafe sets. The tragic incidents at Goregaon Film City and other studios, where workers lost their lives due to fire and unsafe working conditions, are a painful reminder of the dangers film workers face."

AICWA points out safety violations

Meanwhile, AICWA said it has written to the Chief Minister and civic officials, urging them to enforce the law more strictly. "Unfortunately, timely and strict action is rarely taken, allowing negligent production houses to continue putting the lives of innocent workers at risk. When safety norms are ignored, thousands of workers are put at risk. In Mumbai alone, hundreds of shoots take place daily, and most production houses fail to properly comply with the necessary legal and safety requirements," they wrote.

Why did BMC take action against the production house?

According to reports, the blacklisting proposal comes after several alleged violations during the shooting of Dhurandhar 2 , including shooting in unauthorized locations, using flammable materials, and operating a generator van without a permit. They also reportedly pointed to the use of gas cylinders for cooking on set and the use of torches in a high-security zone, which prompted police intervention. It's also said that crew members allegedly changed locations and shot on the rooftop of a building without permission. The BMC has already confiscated the production's security deposit of ₹25,000 and suggested an additional fine of ₹1 lakh. It has also sent a recommendation to the Deputy Municipal Commissioner, seeking to permanently blacklist the studio from applying for future filming permissions through the state's single-window portal.
