“Despite being in the industry, I was not getting work”

Amaal Malik explained that in the early days, even meeting people was difficult. He revealed that he often gate-crashed parties uninvited to connect with others. He said, "I once went to Ekta Kapoor's success party. I barely got an invitation through a friend. There, a senior writer stopped me and said, 'Your time will come after a year.' I didn't understand what he was saying at the time, but that line became my life's motivation."

“The family was in debt of ₹4 crore and was on the verge of losing their home.”

Amaal said that his family was going through a very difficult situation at that time. “We had a debt of about ₹3.5 to ₹4 crore. Father had taken a lot of loans to treat grandfather's illness, the situation had come to selling the house and car.” He told that his younger brother Armaan Malik used to earn ₹10-15 thousand by doing voice-overs to meet the household expenses. Amaal said, “At that time I even sold my musical instruments to meet my expenses.”

“I had to create my own identity, not my father's name.”

When Shahbaz Badesha asked him in the Bigg Boss house why he didn't use his father's name, Amaal said, "I never used my father's name to get work. I wanted people to know me by my music, not my surname." He said that one day, while standing outside the T-Series office for hours every day, Manmeet of Meet Bros recognized him. Manmeet invited him inside, and that's where he met Bhushan Kumar. Amaal said, "On the way to the eighth floor of the lift, I sang four songs for him!"

“‘The Sun Has Dived’ Changed My Life”

Amaal said that when he was coming back down, he remembered the tune of 'Suraj Dooba Hai'. He ran upstairs again and played that melody to Bhushan Kumar. Bhushan immediately said – "This song will be a big hit." And from here began Amaal Malik's musical journey.

First big break: The song 'Naina' from the movie 'Khubsoorat'

After the postponement of 'Roy', Amaal got his first break in the film 'Khubsoorat'. He said, "When I saw the poster of the film, I felt like I had to sing in it. The very next day, I got a call to sing the song 'Naina'." From here, the direction of Amaal's career changed, and gradually, he became one of the most loved music composers of Bollywood.
