Even as his “shockingly bold” Fire of Love- ‘Red’ starring Krushna Abhishek releases this Friday, veteran director Ashok Tyagi set to launch musical mega-movie ‘Godaan’—his tribute to classic ‘Mother India’ ! by Chaitanya Padukone

With the hallowed objective of enhancing sensitivity towards sacred cows--multi-faceted producer-academician-'AAFT' University founder-Chancellor Sandeep Marwah and Vinod Kumar Chaudhari are co-producing a magnum-opus movie based on legendary author Prem Chand's ‘GODAN’ ( Godaan) This movie will be a multi-starrer directed by veteran film-maker Ashok Tyagi and will mostly feature popular established leading stars. Coincidentally, Ashok Tyagi's ‘”shockingly bold”  much-awaited directorial Hindi movie ‘Fire of Love- RED’  ( produced by Rajeev Chaudhari) starring tall, handsome top-star Krushna  Abhishek in a lover-boy-turned negative sadistic-psycho-killer role opposite vivacious  Payal Ghosh,  is releasing this Friday in theatres all over.  

The first melodious devotional song dedicated to revered 'Gau-Mata' of the new film ‘Godan’  is sung by eminent brilliant star-singer  Shaan backed by chorus-vocals composed and arranged by talented Hriju Roy and is being recorded at SoundideaZ Studio(Mumbai) tomorrow.  The formidable technical –crew team of the film will also be announced on that date. In all probability, highly acclaimed multiple awards-winning cinematographer Binod Pradhan is tipped to be the director-of-photography (D.o.P ) of this new movie ‘Godan’  Besides various eminent well-wisher celebrities  Dynamic hon’ble Deputy CM Shri Devendra Fadnavis-jee has been specially invited to bless the ‘Godan’  launch event on January 3rd, which also happens to be charismatic co-producer Sandeep Marwah's birthday.

Speaking exclusively to bollyy.com and Mayapuri,  director Ashok Tyagi says, “ GODAN,  written by the legendary writer of Hindi literature - Munshi Prem Chand is a very renowned novel highlighting the struggle for existence by an average Indian farming couple named Hori and Dhaniya. When I was creatively struggling to turn GODAN into a grand cinematic narration, I was haunted by Mehboob's MOTHER INDIA which is also a powerful tale of a poor farming couple played by Nargis and Raajumar.

 It dawned upon me that our latest GODAN of 2024 has to be a worthy tribute to MOTHER INDIA ( 1957). The magic of cinema is that it can be aesthetically opulent even while narrating a tale of abject poverty. MOTHER INDIA is a supreme example of that. It narrates the story of poor farmers. but as a film it has tremendous visual and musical grandeur.  We will ensure that  GODAN will also be a film like that   Our humble, sincere cinematic tribute to Prem Chand as well as a tribute to showman Mehboob-saab”, assures Ashok Tyagi

Incidentally, 60 years ago during the  ‘golden era’ this movie ‘Godaan’ (1963)   produced and directed by Trilok Jetley, starring Raaj Kumar, Kamini Kaushal,  Shashikala, Mehmood. Shubha Khote and Madan Puri was released.   With multiple melodious songs composed by iconic sitarist Pt.Ravi Shanker this movie was highly appreciated for its entertaining yet hard-hitting content and music.
