Pahalgam Terror Attack: The recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, has increased the tension again. After which, there is a demand for a boycott of Pakistani artists and films. Amidst this protest, the much-awaited film 'Abir Gulaal' for the return of Pakistani actor Fawad Khan to Indian cinema has got stuck. The film was scheduled to release in theatres on 9 May. Now, news is coming that the film 'Abir Gulaal' has been postponed.
Fawad Khan's film Abir Gulaal postponed
Actually, according to information received from sources, "The makers are considering postponing the release date of Abir Gulaal. The release of the film can be postponed until things get better. But it is uncertain when this will happen because theaters do not want to take a film with a Pakistani actor right now". After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, the film Abir Gulaal is facing criticism in the virtual world, and there is a demand to boycott the film.
FWICE completely boycotted Pakistani artists
Reacting to the Pahalgam attack, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has once again reiterated its directive for a complete boycott of all Pakistani artistes, singers, and technicians in the Indian film industry. FWICE said, "In the wake of the recent attack in Pahalgam, FWICE is once again bound to impose a complete boycott of all Pakistani artistes, singers, and technicians participating in any Indian films or entertainment projects. We will not allow Abir Gulaal to release in India. Action will be taken against the producers if they release the film."
Fawad Khan expressed grief
Fawad Khan also expressed grief over the loss of lives in the terror attack and condemned it. He wrote on Instagram, "Very sad to hear the news of the heinous attack in Pahalgam. Our condolences and prayers are with the victims of this horrific incident, and we pray for strength and healing for their families in this difficult time".
'Abir Gulaal' will be released on 9 May 2025
'Abir Gulaal' stars Fawad Khan and Vaani Kapoor in the lead roles. Produced by Indian Stories Limited and A Richer Lens Entertainment, in association with Arjay Pictures, the film was scheduled to release in theatres on May 9, 2025. Amit Trivedi has worked on its music. Abir Gulaal is directed by Aarti S. Bagri and also stars Ridhi Dogra in an important role. It is set to clash with Rajkummar Rao's 'Bhool Chuk Maaf'. However, ahead of its release, the film has faced strong opposition from prominent political figures and industry leaders, especially in Maharashtra, who are calling for its boycott.
