Director Imtiaz Ali recently spoke on the casting couch during an event. Imtiaz said that no one ever gets work by compromising. TV writer-producer Vinta Nanda did not like Imtiaz Ali's recent comment on the casting couch in Bollywood. She reprimanded the director on her Instagram account for making such a statement on this issue without 'any experience'. 

Vinta Nanda said this about Imtiaz's comments

Let us tell you that Imtiaz Ali spoke on the issue of the casting couch in Bollywood at IFFI Goa, where he rejected the notion that compromise guarantees success. After this, producer Vinta Nanda shared a post on Instagram criticizing Imtiaz Ali. Sharing the post, Vinta Nanda wrote, "Imtiaz Ali should stop speaking about the problems faced by women in the entertainment industry. Naturally, Kareena Kapoor is safe because she is privileged. And, she must surely know that a casting couch exists! Why has IFFI Goa chosen him to speak on behalf of women? Is it to hide the truth? If men like him had the decency to avoid speaking on a subject about which they have no experience, then one can believe that change has happened."

While sharing this post, filmmaker Vinta Nanda wrote, "It is shocking to see reports of Imtiaz Ali making various statements on women's issues on important industry platforms like @iffigoa. With zero experience, he should have avoided speaking instead. Who believes that there is no casting couch in the entertainment industry and women are safe here, raise your hands!".

In fact, Imtiaz Ali said at IFFI Goa, “Let me tell you that if a woman or a girl cannot say 'no', then her chances of success are not necessarily good. It is not that if a girl compromises, she will definitely get a role. If a girl can say 'no' and respects herself, only then others will respect her. People like me and many others often think about whether we take someone seriously or not. We need to respect a person to cast him/her”.
