Let us tell you that the ongoing interest in bringing the sequel of Ghajini to theaters took a new turn when last week, at an event held in Mumbai to promote Naga Chaitanya's upcoming film Thandel, Ghajini's well-known producer Allu Arvind suggested to Aamir that they work together on the sequel of their 2008 blockbuster Ghajini.
Were you joking?
Netizens and portals went crazy hearing this as they thought the producer-actor's plans have been publicly announced. But here's the thing: I spoke to a very modest Allu Arvind about Ghajini's sequel, and he replied, "No sir, I was joking with him (Aamir)." In 2008, producer Madhu Mantena and Allu Arvind joined hands to make the biggest blockbuster of Aamir Khan's career. Ghajini Released on Christmas Day in 2008, Ghajini became Filmistan's first film to gross over Rs 100 crore.
Earlier, several reports claimed that both Aamir Khan and Surya (the latter played the same role in the Tamil original) were “together” in talks for the sequel with producers Allu Arvind and Madhu Mantena. Even then Allu Arvind responded, “No sir, we have no such plans.”
About the film
Ghajini is essentially a love story of a lonely tycoon in a cocoon who discovers love in a working class environment. Aamir Khan's expressions of nervousness, curiosity, joy and acceptance in Asin's company remind you of a child who has just found a mother's love. That a violent film like Ghajini has so much tenderness hidden in its heart is a wonder that never ceases to grip the audience.
