HC grants divorce to Chef Kunal Kapoor on grounds of cruelty

Celebrity chef Kunal Kapoor is currently in the limelight regarding his divorce. On Tuesday, April 2, 2024, the Delhi High Court granted divorce to Chef Kunal Kapoor, because he had to face cruelty from his estranged wife Ekta Kapoor. Delhi High Court said that there was a lack of dignity and empathy in the behavior of Kunal's wife. Kunal Kapoor's appeal was successful against the decision of the Family Court in which he was refused a divorce.

Justices Suresh Kumar Kait and Neena Bansal Krishna said, "In the light of the above facts of the present case, we find that the conduct of the respondent (wife) towards the appellant (husband) has been such that she lacks respect and sympathy for him. When one spouse behaves like this toward the other, it offends the very essence of marriage and there is no possible reason why one should be forced to live with the pain of living together."

Kunal had made these allegations against his wife

Let us tell you that in his petition in the Delhi High Court, Kunal Kapoor accused his wife of never respecting his parents and insulting them. On the other hand, Ekta Kapoor termed the allegations made by Kunal as false and said that I always tried to talk to my husband like a loving wife and remained loyal to him. However, he kept me in the dark and fabricated stories to get a divorce.

Kunal married Ekta Kapoor in 2008

Chef Kunal Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor got married in April 2008, after which they welcomed their son in 2012.
