Let us tell you that, according to media reports, ED had issued a summons to Manchu Lakshmi and directed her to record her statement at its regional office in Basheerbagh. This notice has been issued after allegations that the promotion of betting apps by celebrities lured thousands of people into online gambling (promoting illegal betting apps), causing them huge financial losses, and some alleged suicide cases are also linked to this as a result.

Last week, actor Vijay Deverakonda, who is enjoying the success of his latest film Kingdom, was summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the investigation. At the ED's Basheerbagh office in Hyderabad, officials questioned him about promotional contracts with betting apps and the payments associated with them. Vijay Deverakonda said that he had promoted a legal gaming app, not a betting platform, and similarly refused to take payments due to ethical concerns.

The appearance of actor Prakash Raj came after a five-hour conversation with the ED on July 30. According to Prakash Raj, he had advertised a gaming app in 2016, but refused to take payment. During the conversation with the officials, he said, "I did not take any payment, because my conscience did not allow me to do so. I just did an advertisement for a gaming app, but later I realized that I should not have done it".

In fact, the FIR was registered after a complaint by businessman Phanindra Sarma. Vijay Deverakonda's name was also registered in the FIR along with several other prominent personalities. The complaint, filed on March 19 this year, highlights a disturbing trend of celebrities and influencers promoting illegal gambling apps, which violate the Public Gambling Act of 1867.

According to the FIR, the accused stars and media influencers have been charged under Section 318(4), 112, (r/w) 49 of the Indian Justice Code, Section 4 of the Telangana State Gaming Act (TSGA), and Section 66-D of the Information Technology Act. These legal provisions relate to fraudulent activities, illegal gaming promotion, and online fraud. The FIR states that Rana Daggubati and Prakash Raj were associated with the promotion of Junglee Rummy, while Vijay Deverakonda supported A23, Manchu Lakshmi was associated with Yolo 247, Pranitha was associated with Fairplay, and Nidhi Agarwal was associated with Jeet Win.
