Jaat Controversy: Director Gopichand Malineni Defends Sunny Deol’s Film

Sunny Deol and Randeep Hooda's film 'Jaat' has been surrounded by controversies since its release. The film is directed by director Gopichand Malineni. An FIR has been filed against Sunny Deol, Randeep Hooda, and three others for 'hurting sentiments'. Meanwhile, now film director Gopichand Malineni has talked about the controversial scene of Jaat.

In fact, film director Gopichand Malineni addressed the controversial scene in Jaat, saying, "The censor board did not mention anything for the trailer cut, but later, it asked us to blur the background in the film print. This was done before people protested. If a film has to become a blockbuster, it should be watched by as many people as possible. No filmmaker wants to hurt any person or community. We want to entertain them".

Church scene removed from the film

Not only this, on Friday, 18 April 2025, the team of Jaat issued a statement about removing the scene from the film. They clarified that they never intended to hurt anyone's faith. The makers wrote, "People are angry about a particular scene in the film. This scene has been removed from the film with immediate effect. Our intention was not to hurt anyone's religious sentiments. We deeply regret this and have taken the decision to remove the scene from the film immediately. We sincerely apologize to all those whose faith has been hurt".

A case was filed against the actors and producers of the film Jaat

For your information, let us tell you that on April 18, an FIR was registered against the actors and producer of Jaat, alleging that the film contains 'scenes that insult Jesus Christ and Christian religious practices.' The complainant, Vikala Gold, also questioned the timing of the film's release around Holy Week. Sanjeev Kumar, SHO of Jalandhar Cantonment Police Station, where the FIR was registered under Section 299 on Wednesday evening.

According to the report of Saknilak, the film has collected around 65.85 crores in 10 days.
