The report further states that "Farhan and co-writers Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti had difficulty finding male co-stars who would fit the three roles. They wanted three A-list actors alongside Katrina, Priyanka and Alia, and this requirement slowed things down further."

He said, “So my film Toofan released in 2021. Right after that, I was supposed to direct a film called Jee Le Zaraa. It just kept getting delayed, and for those two years, I kept turning down all the other opportunities that came my way. I did this because when you have to direct, you can only focus on that. If an acting role came up, I would tell them, 'No, I'm going to direct soon.'"
