However, the film is also being compared to Hollywood classics like Harry Potter, Dune and Mad Max. Now Nag Ashwin has clarified that Harry Potter was not an inspiration, but two other Hollywood films were. Nag Ashwin spoke about 'Kalki 2898 AD' In fact, during a recent interview, filmmaker Nag Ashwin was asked if he was inspired by the Iron Man franchise. Responding to which Nag Ashwin said, "We grew up watching Marvel movies. I would say Guardians of the Galaxy had more influence than Iron Man. Of course, Star Wars has a huge influence. I love Star Wars, so it is subconsciously a part of my aesthetics". The filmmaker also revealed that Harshit Reddy's character Luke was taken from the popular Star Wars character Luke Skywalker. Nag Ashwin was questioned about Kamal Haasan's Yaskin role However, when asked about Kamal Haasan's resemblance to Harry Potter's Voldemort, the filmmaker said that the fantasy series was not an inspiration for him. "Our references were these old Tibetan monks, who are supposed to be 120-130 years old. Sir (Kamal Haasan) always referred to the picture of Dorian Gray (from Oscar Wilde's 1890 philosophical novel The Picture of Dorian Gray). That was Sir's inspiration. We didn't have too many film references for that ancient look." He revealed that perhaps the only Harry Potter reference was Vinay Kumar's character Sirius, which was derived from the popular Harry Potter character Sirius Black (played by Gary Oldman in the films). 'Kalki 2898 AD' collected this much According to the report of box office tracker Scanlink, 'Kalki 2898 AD' collected Rs 41.3 crore on the 11th day of its release i.e. on the second Sunday, after which its total box office collection became Rs 507 crore. This film has crossed the collection mark of Rs 600 crore worldwide. Directed by Nag Ashwin, this film also stars Kamal Haasan, Disha Patani, and Dulquer Salman in important roles.
