Kangana Ranaut's film Emergency is in a lot of discussion these days. At the same time, the hearing regarding the film Emergency will be held in the Bombay High Court on Monday, 30 September 2024. During the hearing, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) informed the Bombay High Court on Monday that they have agreed to the cuts/changes suggested by the revision committee of the censor board.
Some changes will be made to the film
Let us tell you that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) on Monday informed the Bombay High Court that Kangana Ranaut, the producer and lead actress of the controversial film "Emergency", has agreed to the cuts/changes suggested by the censor board's revision committee. A division bench of Justices Burgess Colabawala and Firdaus Pooniwala is hearing a petition filed by the film's co-producer Zee Studios, seeking a certificate for the release of the film. In the last hearing, the CBFC had informed the bench through its lawyer Dr. Abhinav Chandrachud that the revision committee has suggested some cuts in the film, after which it can be released. However, the co-producers sought time to find out what changes can be made.
Further hearing will be held on October 3
When the matter was heard on Monday, senior advocate Sharan Jagtiani, appearing for Zee Studios, informed the bench that Kangana Ranaut has held a meeting with the CBFC and agreed to the suggestions regarding some cuts in the film. During the hearing, the lawyer said, "Kangana Ranaut has told us through email that she has met the CBFC and agreed to the cuts. She has said that now this matter is between her and the censor board". However, the senior lawyer said that time is needed to decide on how the cuts should be implemented. To this, Chandrachud told the bench that not even a minute of the film will be affected by the cuts as these cuts are related to a few words here and there. The CBFC will respond to this format and the next hearing on the matter has been scheduled for Thursday, October 3.
13 cuts will be made in the film
Several media reports said that the censor board's revision committee has ordered 13 cuts in the film and issued it a U/A certificate. This reportedly includes adding a disclaimer, deleting some dialogues and scenes, and providing facts to support historical references in the film. Earlier this month, Sikh organizations had objected to its release. The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) and Akal Takht have also demanded an immediate ban on the film. They claim that it tries to attack the character of Sikhs by creating a story against them.
Kangana will be seen in the role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi
