Kangana Ranaut starrer Emergency has finally got the green signal for release, but it is facing challenges in other countries after a long battle. The film, based on the dark period of Emergency during the reign of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in the 70s, will not be able to release in Bangladesh. Sources associated with the film have revealed that there are a few major factors behind this decision, including the ongoing issue between India and Bangladesh and the depiction of the assassination of former Bangladesh PM Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

IANS quoted a source as saying, "The decision to stop screening Emergency in Bangladesh is linked to the current tense relations between India and Bangladesh. The ban is less about the content of the film and more about the ongoing political dynamics between the two countries." Meanwhile, another factor that has played a role in this ban is the assassination of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, who is considered the father of Bangladesh as he played a key role in separating Bangladesh from Pakistan. We hear that the film depicts his assassination by a group of Bangladeshi extremists, which has also further affected the release. Indira Gandhi supported Bangladesh in its war of secession with Pakistan, which led to the Indo-Pak war in 1971.
