Kantara Chapter 1 Postponed: Rishab Shetty’s much-anticipated prequel to the 2022 blockbuster Kantara, titled Kantara Chapter 1, is one of the most awaited releases of the year. While the team is currently immersed in the film’s shoot, a tragic incident recently raised concerns about the movie’s release timeline.

A few days ago, a junior artist associated with the film, M.F. Kapil, tragically drowned while swimming in a river. Following this, reports started doing the rounds suggesting that the makers had decided to postpone Kantara Chapter 1.

On Thursday, 22nd May 2025, the team behind Kantara Chapter 1 took to their official X (formerly Twitter) account to put an end to the speculation. They wrote:

"We are on the right track, and everything is progressing as per plan. #KantaraChapter1 will release worldwide in cinemas on 2nd October 2025. Trust us — it will be worth the wait. We urge everyone to refrain from spreading speculation or sharing unverified updates."

Clarification on Junior Artist’s Death

Earlier, the production house had also issued a public statement clarifying the circumstances surrounding the junior artist’s death. They stated:

"There was no filming scheduled on that day, and the unfortunate incident occurred during his personal time, outside the scope of any film-related activity."

Kantara Chapter 1 is set to release in multiple languages, including Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, and Malayalam. While the film is positioned as a prequel, details about its core storyline remain tightly under wraps. Directed by Rishab Shetty, the team is consciously keeping information about the cast and crew confidential.

Currently, Rishab Shetty is busy shooting for the prequel, which has now entered its third schedule. According to a source close to the production, nearly half of the filming has been completed.

Kantara Chapter 1, the prequel to Shetty’s 2022 cultural phenomenon, is all set for a grand worldwide release on 2nd October 2025.
