Kapil Sharma Breaks Silence on Claims of Mocking Atlee's Appearance

Filmmaker Atlee Kumar recently came on The Great Indian Kapil Sharma Show to promote Baby John. During this, Kapil had a lot of fun with everyone, but in between, he asked Atlee Kumar a question that the audience did not like. Now Kapil Sharma has broken his silence on the claims-making fun of Atlee.

Kapil Sharma presented clarification

Let us tell you that today on Tuesday, 10 December 2024, Kapil reacted to the ongoing controversy on Atlee. He responded to the discussion by re-posting a tweet, which read, "Kapil Sharma insulted Atlee's looks? Atlee replied like a boss: Don't judge by looks, judge by heart". The post had a clip of the conversation between the two from the web show. Responding to this, Kapil wrote, "Dear Sir, can you please explain to me when and where did I talk about looks in this video? Please do not spread hatred on social media. Thanks".

Kapil Sharma made fun of Atlee's looks

For your information, on Saturday, Atlee was seen in an episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show along with Baby John actors Varun Dhawan, Keerthy Suresh and Vamika Gabbi. In one of the segments, Kapil is seen asking Atlee, "When you meet a star for the first time, do they ask, where is Atlee?" Responding to Kapil, Atlee said, "In a way I understood your question. I will try to answer. I am actually very grateful to AR Murugadoss sir because he made my first film. He asked for the script, but he did not see how I look or whether I am capable of it or not. But, he liked my narration. I think the world should see this. We should not judge by appearance. You should judge by your heart".

Social media users expressed their reaction

Since the episode was released on Netflix on Saturday, many users have expressed their disappointment over the joke made by Kapil. One user commented, "Maybe he didn't intend it that way, but then he should have asked the question in a better way. But overall he is a champion of body shaming, so it's no surprise." Another mentioned, "Kapil Sharma is a nice person, but he always makes racist/sexist/body shaming/homophobic jokes on his show. His stupid question to Atlee shows North Indians' obsession with fair skin."
