Traditionally, Christmas celebrations gradually fade out when the New Year starts. But here in Hindi Bollywood and Tamil movies, Christmas celebrations have been extended for into new year 2024 That’s because the much-awaited thriller Hindi-Tamil movie titled Merry Christmas featuring lead star cast Katrina Kaif paired opposite Vijay Sethupathi will be releasing on January 12^th,2024. Which implies that the on-screen Xmas merry festive ‘hang-over’ will continue for many more weeks even upto mid-February 2024.

Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi ( of SRK starrer ‘Jawan’ fame) starrer ‘Merry Christmas’ directed by thriller-master Sriram Raghavan is set on a fateful Christmas Eve. The makers screened two diverse content tantalizing trailers filmed in both Hindi and Tamil during the promotional event at PVR-Juhu Theatre.. Present at the media-press conference were actor Katrina Kaif, Vijay Sethupathi, director Sriram Raghavan, Sanjay Kapoor, producer Ramesh Taurani, Sanjay Routray and actor-producer Girish ( Kumar) Taurani.

Star-actress Katrina Kaif ( of ‘Tiger-3’ fame) on Thursday emphasized that 'Merry Christmas' turned out to be a special film as it gave her an opportunity to work with brilliant filmmaker Sriram Raghavan and also step out of her comfort zone. Working with Raghavan, the director of critical hits 'Ek Hasina Thi', 'Johnny Gaddar', 'Badlapur' and 'Andhadhun', was always on Kaif's "bucket list", the actor said at a press conference here. Merry Christmas' is set over the course of one night and follows the gripping story of two strangers.

Katrina shared that started the project with an "open mind" as she knew that the movie would turn out to be a different experience for her as a creative person. .. Katrina said she personally enjoys acting in both commercial entertainers and unique content and character-driven movies like 'Merry Christmas', a story that attracted her instantly. As an actress, you are looking to tell a story and be a part of a story that is really interesting. And for me, 'Merry Christmas .. "As an actor, you are looking to tell a story and be a part of a story that is really interesting. And for me, 'Merry Christmas' ticked all the boxes. It was really a unique journey, a unique story about two fascinating characters. The minute I heard it, I was hooked. There are high-octane action films which is wonderful, it is a certain type of cinema. But there are also intimate and unique stories to be told and that story has to be told at a scale that is suitable to that particular. For me, working with Sriram Raghavan was always on my bucket list, and he's been one of my favorite directors. When I heard the story, I was in awe that I was going to get to work with him in a story like this which was so incredible. For an actor to be able to do both is what we are supposed to be doing and it's what I personally enjoy doing."

Merry Christmas team

The modest, unassuming Vijay Sethupathi, who made waves on the Hindi cinematic front with the recent mega-hit ‘Jawan’ in a negative character of an arms--dealer which he said he enjoyed playing negative characters which allow lots of scope. The frank outspoken Vijay said that he never expected to be paired alongside stunningly beautiful Katrina. “I'm her very big fan. I can't express it but if there was another person inside me he would've possible danced in front of her. She's a very thought-process actor, asks many questions, and thinks too much. Still, she's very dedicated, she understands you. Even if she can't accept your thoughts, she will attentively listen to you. She puts a lot of effort with so much sensibility. That's why she's in the industry, not just because she's beautiful. Just a beauty can't survive for so many years,” insisted Vijay. Incidentally, Katrina completes 20 years in Bollywood having made her acting debut with the Hindi movie 'Boom' released in 2003

Sriram Raghavan, who is known for helming films like Badlapur and Andhadhun said, “When you watch a thriller or a film like this, the audience is very engaged and they're making up their own story. They are also writing their own script when the movie is on. I thought this movie would be 90 minutes without interval but there is one.”

The makers also released a melodious track ‘Nazar Teri Toofan’ sung by Papon, with lyrics penned by Varun Grover and music composed by Pritam. The melodious song has Pritam and Varun Grover coming together for the first time!
