Let us tell you that today, on February 24th, the makers of Red Chillies Entertainment shared a promo of the film's theme song, "King." The song is sung by Anirudh Ravichander and Heisenberg. The song is titled "They Call Him King." Sharing the promo, they wrote in the caption, "Fear will be at its peak." Along with the song, the release date was also shared, which will hit theaters on December 24, 2026.

Directed by Siddharth Anand, the film stars Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Suhana Khan, Rani Mukerji, Arshad Warsi, and Abhay Verma. Shah Rukh and his wife Gauri Khan's Red Chillies Entertainment and Jio Studios jointly produce King. It is co-written by Sujoy Ghosh, Sagar Pandya, and Suresh Nair, with dialogues by Abbas Tyrewala. When did King's development begin?

Following the success of Pathan in 2023, it was reported that Shah Rukh Khan would be working with Sujoy Ghosh for an action thriller directed by him. Reportedly produced by Pathan director Siddharth Anand and Gauri Khan, the project also reportedly cast Suhana Khan in her feature film debut. Production on the film, titled King, was claimed to begin in November 2023. Although the title King was initially acquired by Sajid Nadiadwala, who had previously commissioned a film starring Hrithik Roshan, directed by Kabir Khan, in 2017, which failed to materialize, he then transferred the rights to Red Chillies Entertainment. The initial filming schedule was to take place from November 2024 to March 2025, as Khan could then focus on Tiger vs. Pathan, but the plan was not followed. Later, filming was postponed to January 2025. However, that plan was also not followed. In August 2024, Khan confirmed the project at the Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland. The following December, Siddharth Anand was announced as replacing Sujoy Ghosh for unknown reasons. The film is reportedly inspired by the 1994 French film Léon: The Professional.

When did the shooting start?

The film was scheduled to begin shooting in early 2025, however, it was delayed after Anand reworked the film's script. Principal photography began in May 2025 at Mehboob Studios in Mumbai. In June 2025, an intense prison action sequence was shot with Shah Rukh Khan and 200 stunt performers at the same location. Sets resembling foreign prisons were constructed. During the shooting, Raghav Juyal injured his leg while performing some stunts. In July 2025, while filming some action sequences at the Golden Tobacco Factory in Vile Parle, Khan also suffered a muscle injury and had to travel to the United States for urgent medical treatment, delaying shooting by a month. The film's second schedule began in September 2025, with shooting taking place in Warsaw, Poland. Arshad Warsi confirmed his presence on set by sharing a photo from Warsaw's Old Town on Instagram.
