Legendary Actor Manoj Kumar Passes Away at 87, Bollywood Mourns His Loss

Famous producer, director, screenwriter, lyricist and actor of Indian film industry Manoj Kumar passed away at the age of 87 on 4th April early in the morning at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital.

Famous producer, director, screenwriter, lyricist and actor of Indian film industry Manoj Kumar passed away at the age of 87 on 4th April early in the morning at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital. Known for his patriotic films, Manoj Kumar was also known as 'Bharat Kumar' in the film industry. He had also received many other honors including Padma Shri and Dadasaheb Phalke Award.

He started his acting career with the film 'Fashion' in the year 1957. After this, his film 'Kaanch Ki Gudiya' was released in 1961. He appeared as the lead actor in this film, which was successful.

Manoj Kumar worked in films like 'Sahara' (1958), 'Chaand' (1959) and 'Honeymoon' (1960) and then he got 'Kaanch Ki Gudiya' (1961) in which he appeared in a lead role for the first time. After this came 'Piya Milan Ki Aas' (1961), 'Suhag Sindoor' (1961), 'Reshmi Rumal' (1961), 'Hariyali Aur Raasta' (1962), 'Shaadi' (1962), 'Dr. Vidya' (1962), Grihasthi (1963). His biggest success came in the year 1962 with Vijay Bhatt's 'Hariyali Aur Raasta' which was a commercial hit. The film starred Mala Sinha. Manoj Kumar did many amazing films like 'Woh Kaun Thi' (1964), 'Shaheed' (1965), 'Gumnaam' (1965), 'Sawan Ki Ghata' (1966), 'Do Badan' (1966), 'Upkaar' (1967), 'Patthar Ke Sanam' (1967), 'Anita' (1967), 'Neel Kamal' (1968), 'Saajan' (1969), 'Purab Aur Paschim' (1970), 'Pehchaan' (1970), 'Mera Naam Joker' (1970), 'Yadgaar' (1970), 'Beimaan' (1972), 'Shor' (1972), 'Roti Kapda Aur Makaan' (1974), 'Sanyasi' (1975), 'Dus Numbri' (1976), Amanat (1977), 'Clerk' (1989) and 'Kranti' (1981). He gave us films which the cinema lovers will never forget. Manoj Kumar may not be amongst us today, but he will remain etched in the hearts and minds of cinema viewers for ages through his films.
