AR Rahman: "When I used to have suicidal thoughts... - AR Rahman

In fact, in his recent conversation Manoj Muntashir said, "My first meeting was not what I had imagined even in my wildest dreams. I had always seen him in public functions. I had never met him in person. His name brings with it a huge personality. It has a mythical and cult status. With the creation of such a personality, you usually imagine a spiritual energy entering the room. But when Rahman sir entered the room, he was just like any common man.

Manoj Muntashir further added, "I dare say it but this man was very simple. Be it his attire, his words, or his way of sitting. He is the most ordinary man in the world until he sits with his piano. He is not extraordinary and that is what makes him so special. He does not carry his fame on his shoulders like a medal, declaring that, 'I am AR Rahman'. There is nothing like that. He seems to be oblivious to this fact. I could not understand how this was possible". He laughed and said, "I think I used to walk with more ego than him. He is just very simple".

Manoj Muntashir said this about AR Rahman's nature

Along with this, Manoj Muntashir said that the divine nature of AR Rahman is reflected when he discusses music. He said, "He never said anything serious or profound until we included music in the conversation. The moment we started discussing music… Oh my God! He became free. It was as if a nuclear reactor was activated, starting a chain reaction. I was mesmerized. I was not able to make a connection between the two Rahmans I was meeting. One Rahman was so simple – no one could be more simple than him. And the other Rahman, who was sitting at the piano, was so divine that it is impossible for a human being to be like this. My first meeting with him was quite confusing".
