Masaba Gupta Shines in Kesari Chapter 2 Song Khumaari: ‘Always Wanted This’

Masaba Gupta on Song Khumaari: Famous designer Masaba Gupta is making headlines these days for her dance number 'Khumaari' in 'Kesari Chapter 2'. The designer has made the audience crazy with her dance moves. Recently, during a conversation, Masaba Gupta told the real reason for doing the item song 'Khumaari'.

Why did Masaba Gupta choose this song?

In fact, Masaba Gupta said during her recent conversation that, "So, I actually got a call from Panchami Gauri, who is the casting director of the film. I think a week before my wedding in the year 2023. I remember I thought this was a very strange request to come to me. And she said that the director, Karan Tyagi had this idea in mind, because when they were thinking of this song, first it was a burlesque number, and then of course it was cabaret and set in a period background and I just said yes, because I have actually been a dancer all my life and I always wanted to do something like this. I did a very short version of it in Masaba Masaba. I think it was the perfect opportunity, and it had the support of Dharma."

Masaba Gupta was inspired by Samantha Ruth Prabhu's dance number

Along with this, Masaba Gupta further said that Samantha Ruth Prabhu's dance number in Pushpa impressed her. She said, "No, I was not worried that it would be an item song. One, because I had heard about the script. Karan had told me the gist of the story and I knew it was an interesting, impactful, courtroom drama. So the premise was already something that was not trivial, right? Secondly, anything you do that has a period nuance attached to it, in my mind, automatically rises above being an item song. Having said that, I have no problem with item songs, but an item song should mean something. I was very impressed with Samantha Ruth Prabhu's "Oo Antwaa" (Pushpa: The Rise), and I always wanted to do something like that. In fact, when I saw that song, I created this number in my mind because I wanted to do what Samantha did and I wanted it to have the same impact. I felt the song had such a strong message that it was actually more than just being another item song. If an item song is done tastefully, then it will be a better song." If it is, then there's nothing wrong in being a part of it."

For your information, let us tell you that Akshay Kumar starrer film 'Kesari Chapter 2' is based on the events after the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, in which an intense courtroom drama is shown between Akshay, who plays the role of C Shankaran Nair, and R Madhavan, who plays the role of Neville McKinley, a lawyer defending the British Crown. Apart from them, Ananya Pandey is also in an important role. Directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, the film has been released in theaters on 18 April. It has been seven days since the release of Akshay Kumar's 'Kesari Chapter 2' and the film has so far collected only Rs 46.10 crore.
